Passport, Credit Cards and Cash!!

Postby Bobby_604 » Fri May 25, 2007 7:29 am

So im heading over to Indo in about 10 days alone. When I go out to surf I have no idea what I should do with my cash!!

Normally I have friends w/ me, but not this time. Where would you stash it?

Im not gonna make a sweeping generalization about all of Indonesia, but it does have alot of poor people and petty theft so I think leaving a bag on the beach is out of the question!

What do I do withg the big stash of cash I have? My passport? Should I open a bank account there?

Any info would rule

When surfing just take notes. Get some boardies with a back pocket and keep your money in there. It wont get in the way, get lost or rust

For walking around in general think about taking a money belt to keep your stash in. These are pretty safe from pickpockets.
Try finding somewhere to stay that has somewhere to lock your stuff up to keep it safe.

you could buy one of those waterproof thingies (can't remember what they're called) There's s pak pak (or something!) which I've got which is great under a wetsuit but would be too bulky for you and there's an aqua pack i've seen (which I'm going to buy for my trip to Hawaii) where you could keep notes (or pretty much anything) and roll it up really small - either strap it on your wrist or round your neck. They sell them in most surf stores.

Try staying somewhere that has a safe to keep most of your valuables in.

have a great time!

I've a pair of Protest boardies with an aqua pack sewn in the pocket, ideal for a few notes and the key to your lodgings.

One of my Hurley boardshorts came with a mini dry bag. That is where I keep keys and money when I am out.

This may sound a bit disgusting. I have a friend that keeps his stuf in dirty underware. I certainly make sure he gets out of the water before I do. I am not going to get the key out of them. And yes they are dirty.
