Jeffrey's Bay

Postby boardgirl29 » Sat May 12, 2007 9:23 pm

Hi there
Wonder if anyone can help? I'm looking at booking a surf/volunteer trip to Jeffrey's Bay later this year. I am hoping to go either September or October but I'm not sure what the surf will be like then? Certain sites say it runs until end of Sept but others say it's year round. I'm only a beginner so I don't want to go when it's massive - I'll only do myself damage!! I've got a 7ft 4". I'm standing but need to do lots of practice. Any advice on which month would be best?? :D

You do know the makority of surf spots in Jeffreys Bay are for experienced surfers only?
What surf spots are you planning to head to?
Please don't say Supertubes or Bruce's Beauties.

I thought there were enough spots to cover all abilities?? If I'm wrong in this then thanks for letting me know :) Nah Supertubes was not going to be on my list. Definitely to watch and see how proper surfers do it but I wasn't planning on tackling it myself!!! I've seen ads for lots of surfaris to Jeffrey's Bay and lessons, etc so just assumed there must beginner spots too. Perhaps I need to go back to the drawing board??!?

Don't take my word for it I'm sure there are a few beginner friendly point breaks but I'm sure the majority of breaks have a good few hazards, rocks, sharks etc.
Check out www.wannasurf.com and other websites you'll find through google.

That place looks sweet, anybody see "Drive thru South Africa"on Fuel TV? Since then it's definitely on my list of things to do before I die, that place and surfing pipeline, hopefully within the next 10-15 years of my life  Everybody has to have dreams don't they?
