Miami, the burning question we're all wanting to know the answer to, (but are too shy to ask) is why do you have an incredibly small set of stairs leading up to your bed?

Sweeeet dude 8) . I like the rocker, that baby must fly down the face of waves and with the thickness and width it looks like it will do well in mushy surf as well. :woot:

I glassed the bottom a while ago and I have some parts where the glass isn't completly saturated. Also when I was trying to push the glass down on the fin boxes there are some spots where there is a glob of resin making it bumpy. What should I do about this? Thanks

You can kind of see the problems, there are some airbubbles and parts where the glass got scrunched up and is popping out a little. I'm thinking i should just use the surform and get the rough spots down and fill in the airbubbles and redo the scrunched parts. Any advice?

Looks like it's mostly where the cloth overlaps on the rails. trim your glass and take another look. If that;s the case you'll probabyl be OK sanding it down to level and doing a very light filler coat. I've also heard of people (very very carefully) breaking through into the bubble and injecting it with resin to push the air out.

As for the finbox I'd be inclined to sand the lump down level and then fair it with resin.

Just my 2c. Kitey will know better than I on this one.

That is not too bad.

Don’t get disheartened, I have seen much worse before just ask Kitey when he returns from Costa. (LoL)

This is what I would do…

Do not use a Surform, it is far to aggressive, instead use something like a "xxxxx file" (Yes this is a real name) and file the laps as flat as possible.

The same goes for those blobs of resin, hack them down as much as possible with a file.

The air bubble around the fin insert is not something I can directly comment on as I can see no photo of that issue but again do not panic, leave as is and just put up with a bubble or if you really want to you could grind the air bubble out and refill the hole with resin and microfibre mix. Personally unless the bubble is inches long I would be tempted to leave it alone and just live with it.

Now the dry patches around the lap, are they really dry as in they have not had a resin on at all? In this case just paint resin on them to make sure they are saturated just before applying the top layers.

If they have had resin on them but not enough, then you could just leave them or using a craft knife you could cut them out.

Remember it is amazing how much you can correct the final finish whilst sanding the sanding coat, in the worst case you may have to put 2 sanding coats and sand it all back.

Why didn't I say that when I own not one but three bsatard files!

Excellent advice (especially seering away from a surform).

LoL

I just noticed the forum has killed the real name of the file and replaced it with xxxxx

Think of a word that represents the following phrase "Child born out of wedlock"

"B-a-s-t-a-r-d" file

Sanding is a real pain. It takes forever to get the blobs down. I'm probably just going to leave the airbubbles and the scrunched up parts because there not that bad and I just want to finish already. Going to laminate the deck soon and hotcoat another day.

So i laminated about an hour ago and i used 2 quarts of resin and just over 8 cc of catalyst. The deck is pretty much dry but the laps are still kind of wet and not hard  . It should have kicked in about 25 minutes.
