Play a large part??? They're given titles and positions of command based on an accident of birth.

And all those honors and medals they wear for doing nothing....i'd find it a bit insulting if i'd put my life on the line, and recieved a medal as recognition of my efforts.

Sounds fun, can I join although I'm not british?

And apparently you are only supposed to bow if you are a British citizen. They had an article in the paper "in case" you meet her

For those of ya'll that don't know, I'm in Richmond. I still don't see what the whole fuss is about. Although I love how CNN subtly insulted our airport

I waited in 30 minutes of traffic yesterday because of her apparently, 30 minutes I could have used glassing the top of my friends board. :x

But we still got it done :D

Well, not everybody...I couldn't give a damn either. I've never understood "our" fascination, and you can tell some of the reporters don't get it either.

Seriously, is it really worth 4 days of front page articles in the paper? Full time coverage on CNN? Who cares?

Do I take all this very seriously? Nah, but I do get a kick out of the hats, rules, etc. I'm a Southern gal and we take antiquated rules and queen stuff to heart! We don't have it so it's kinda interesting. If something more "news" worthy were happening she'd get booted to second page or further down CNN's webpage I guess but it's pretty quiet this week.

HOWEVER, all this stuff about visiting the first colony, etc., was a bit weird. They way they were portraying it was as if she was coming to see how her little USA colony was doing. Kinda weird. You guys CANNOT have it back!!! Too late!!! But, then, when does the media get it spot on?

Our paper said, "Do not bow unless you are English, and do not say you are 'glad to meet her' because everyone is glad to meet the queen"

ginat, where are you located if you don't mind me asking?

Visiting the first conoly..ha ha ha....i wouldn't have let her in.

They live in the clouds man, charles spent £45,000 of our money on a single train journey from scotland to plymouth. Andrew spent nearly £130,000...that's over $256,700, to our american friends... on a charter flight so he could go shopping on the way back from Singapore...and funny how all his 'public' engagements seem to coincide with major golf touraments....and the list goes on!!.. it's a joke.

Don't get me wrong it's not just a question of finance, but that does makes me sick.

What would people think about our elected politicians if they were to use our money in this way????

I venture to say some of the folks on here wouldn't necessarily be so glad to meet her, eh? :D

Nah, I don't mind. I'm from the Volunteer State, Tennessee! About as landlocked as you can be so I'm keeping Delta in the green with surfing trips!
