Hey don't know much about boards since all I used to do was inline at Kona when I got the chance but whats a good board to have fun outside on? Anything that resembles surfing? lol might be a wierd question, but hopefully ya know what i mean.

Yeah they're good fun, and I think it can resemble surfing if set up right. It's also about what you think surfing feels like, from my experience it feels different to different people.

Sector 9s are, eh, alright. They're starter boards I would say. Not bad but very cookie cutter. You could look at some other brands and then you would be uber cool and original

Tomcat thanks for the response. I don't really know whats good and whats not and by setup. Could you give me some points or shoot me in the direction of some good sites/stores?

Well lets go by parts!!!

I don't see the board as the most important part actually. So we'll start with

TRUCKS:

Crails- my favorites. They are actually downhill racing trucks, but if you replace the standard Moog busings with some Trackere 88a Hourglass bushings, you WILL have the best trucks ever!!!

Holeys- set up for carving straight out of the box. But you can't do much with speed with them (but you are in Florida, not too many hills). They look sweet too.

WHEELS:

ABEC 11: They make some great wheels. My favorites are either Gumballs or Flashbacks. Gumballs are great, but Flashbacks are definately the best bang for your buck.

3DM: Avilas, Avalons, Speedvents, they're all sweet. Just nice, big, soft hunks of urethane. I have some Avilas in 72a (very very very soft!) in 76mm, they're the biggest Cadillac ride you can get.

BEARINGS:

Plenty of choices here, but I would definately say PleasureTool Bearings. 10 bucks for the best bearings you can buy, the seals are fantastic.

And finally, boards.

Lush, Gravity, Landyachtz, Chicago, Subsonic, Bustin, Longboard Larry, Roe, Kebbek, there are so many, I don't know why I can only remember those right now.

But if you want to carve, get something a bit flexy and some deep wheel wells, if you are looking to have a commuter or something, anything with a drop will be nice so when you push your feet are closer to level and its not as hard on you, a speed board you wanna get super stiff, slalom board is personal preference, but little, or a dancer, get with some flex, around 60". I make my boards, but I ride enough other boards to know what they feel like.

I have a 5ft longboardlarry set up with holeys and flashbacks. Really fun for crusing around and those holeys make carving super fun.

Yeah, 60"ers are great for dancin, crusing, etc.

I found that video so awesome i've gone out and got myself a board. There have been no waves to talk about here for weeks so i needed something else and this is perfect! I went to the local shop and got myself one of these:
