ok, i`m guessing a few people on here might have a vw :D

i`ve been into them for years now and love the way they are all individual vehicles with their own personality.

post your vdub - whether used on a daily basis, hauling your surf gear about, show winner or just a sorry project - anything goes!

here`s mine for a starter a 64 type 3 -

Wow, nice selection!! I love my dubs too... here's my old 8v Mk2 which i sold about 6 months ago :-(

Image

I had to sell it as i'm driving 100 mile round trip for work each day and didnt want to cook it. Good news is i'm currently driving a mk3 vr6 highline which is fyun but doesnt have the same feeling.

Once i finish this contract i'm gonna start looking for another mint mk2. Maybe a 26v but i'm not sure yet

Ace! They are great motors that are easy to maintain but can be driven hard and fun!!
If you want rid i might be interested in a few months. Mine was lovely, I had bbs split rims as you can see and no rust. Plus it had a mint interior as i'd had all the rips and wear sorted. I liked to keep it totally original (aside from the alloys)

I'm so going to regret posting this photo but here goes. This van got named the rave bus by many people as it was the van that got us to so many raves. Here it is and me and a few other likely suspects 8am in milton keynes one sunday morning many years ago...

Image

and yes that is a pony tail sticking out from under my hat b4 xswind points it out!

And this one is my favourite van, hand painted and hairy as i used a roller and all the hairs ended up in the paintwork!!!

Technically speaking, if VDUB's have individual personalities, don't all cars? My Mazda has a great personality!!!

Heres mine when I first got it almost 2 years ago.
Its falling apart and I am putting no more money into it. I am driving it until i dies. So far german engineering is impressing the hell out of me, i am surprised every day that it still runs. Right now the transmission is cracked so it wont hold fluid, and 5th gear blew up. For whatever reason it didnt damage any other gears, i just hear a grinding in 1-3 now. This happened the second weekend of Dec. My mechanic said look for a new car, it might last you a week. I have put about another 5000km on since then commuting to work. If it lasts until the summer, I am not buying a car until I get back from OZ.

Nice collection Outonawave, Does the black boot on the bug help keep the engine temperature down? Just wondering, can't think of another reason to have it black, looks cool though.

cheers. not sure about it keeping the temp down - it might do!

it was painted black because we got the bug cheap - it`d had an engine fire the day before we bought it! obviously, the paint was ruined on the decklid and as a quick fix, i painted it satin black - the old paint was pearlescent and i wasn`t going to match it very well.

its now had a full respray in seychelles blue and the decklid matches the rest of the car!

A friend of mine had an old one that had an oval back window. Said it had a Porsche motor in it. Had some big @ss wheels on it. Looked too good.
