Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards

The big ceremony to hand out the awards is this Friday in my hometown. It's just ironic that none of the big waves were even within 500 miles of this land locked city, home of Disney . And the biggest ones were in South Africa, Tahiti, and Mexico. Two of the guys nominated are from Orange County though.
Now if only I could get in on the party.

Doug Young of New Zealand at Teahupoo, Tahiti October 13th
Ken Collins of Santa Cruz, CA, USA at Puerto Escondido June 17th
Andrew Marr of South Africa at Dungeons on July 30 (up for biggest wave)
Manoa Drollet of French Polynesia at Teahupoo on July 28

Three categories: ride of the year, biggest wave, and paddle-in. ROTY is worth $50,000 US, biggest wave and paddle in are worth $15,000.
