Long distance Longboard, roof rack transportation

didn't really know how to fit this title into a small, concise heading. anyway, due to my new truck (which has a short bed), i won't be able to throw my 9'6" stick in the bed of my vehicle like i used to. i've gotta go with a roof rack. i'm wondering if 3 hours worth of traveling plus 80 MPH speeds will put any sort of weird torch on my board or fin box(s)...causing the board to bend, warp etc. over time.

Well as long as your roof rack is properly spaced and you have a decent rack you should be fine. Also make sure the board is not positioned to far foward so it isn't flexing when you are driving into the wind. I can't imagine the diving board setup is good for a long board when the board is flexing up and down on the highway.

And stop more regular than normal to check your roof bar straps.

great. i appreciate the help. would any of you recommend a certain type/style of rack? i was thinking of getting a yak or thule rack and putting those tubular pads on the crossbars. the downside is that i'd need to buy some sort of ratchet strap or tubular webbing to jimmy-rig the boards to the crossbars. i've seen some racks that have the board straps built in to the pads etc. i'm trying to stay away from the racks that go through the inside of the car. any help is greatly appreciated.

No worries, there shouldn't be any appreciable changes to your board due to be carried on a roof rack at high speeds. Just make certain they are secure.
