Looking for some Florida locals advice!

I'm going on a week trip to Siesta Key (Gulfside near Sarasota) in late June. I read that there is a place south of there called North Jetty Park that has a decent break. Anyone know about this place? I realize its Gulf coast so the waves won't be big, but I'd like to sneak out for at least a few hours session somewhere while I'm down there for a week, even if its riding some whitewash. Any surfshops around the area I'm staying? I'd need to rent a board since I won't be bringing any equip. Or as the Aussies say...hire a board. :-) In the U.S. you hire humans to perform a service but rent equipment. I love the way differnt cultures speak differently but mean the same thing.

Unless theres a hurricain brewing June is pretty flat. North Jetty is gonna be a pretty good drive from Siesta Key, but thats what vacations are for.

Heres the SurfLine link to north jetty.

This is what SurfLine has to say about the west coast in June.

SUMMER
Typically, the surf in June, July and August is very small or flat, unless a tropical storm or hurricane comes through. There are many days when you can catch pathetic ankle- to waist-high slop on a longboard at any beachbreak, and the jetties may have a small, bouncy, back-washy peak to hop around on; however, in most respects, this is the season of misery for surfers, better known as "100 days of hell."

You would be better off driving across to the east coast around Cocoa.

I was sort of figuring surf in summer on the Gulf would be like a lake. I won't bother and I doubt a trip across to the Atlantic side is really an option. No problem...I've got plenty of other opportunities to surf.
