Hi Mandy, My suggestion to you would be...............read read and read some more on this site. How big of board you will want to have to start? How to paddle, what kind of wave to start on, how to catch a wave and popping up. Your in for a treat, have fun. Keep us up to date.

Hey Mandy and welcome!!

same as the other guys, there is loads to read up on here. I reckon you should be OK with a board between you - gets tiring anyway.

Have Fun!!! :D

you should just try riding the wave on your board on your stomach, like boogie boarding. when you feel comfortable doing that practice popping up on one knee, stay really close to the board and try and ride that. then try and use your feet. just have fun and dont get in anybodys way!

Couldn't agree more - if you go to one knee you have no chance as your balance is all wrong. One fluid motion - you don't have to jump or anything just raise your body up and when you are stable stand up. If you practice on land and visualise how to do it for real you'll have no trouble at all.
