SAS Action - Wednesday 4th April
As part of our ongoing campaign against Northumbrian Water's plans to turn off UV sewage treatment outside the bathing season we are undertaking an action outside the Environment Agency's (EA) office in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The EA are currently assessing the applications from Northumbrian Water.
We will be presenting them with a giant wave made up of images of people using local beaches for surfing and other board sports during the winter. Northumbrian Water report that on average no more than 10 people per week use any of the regions beaches for recreation outside the bathing season (ie from October till May), so this photo montage highlights just how wrong this assessment is.
This is a very important action so we need as many people as possible there for it. We know it's a week-day but the timing is strategic so please do make an effort to get there. It will last no more than ½ hour.
Meet 9:45am outside:
The Environment Agency's office
Tyneside House
Skinnerburn Road
Newcastle Upon Tyne
NE4 7AR
Bring boards and wetsuits!
