Hit a few spots in Devon on Friday/saturday - nowhere really working after a brief clean session early friday morning

I didnt think it would work - but a friend celebrating his 40th (eek) birthday in croyde meant I couldnt resist a quick sneaky (but rubbish) session or two before hitting the beer

Yea, it was a real eye-opener to see it up close and personal. The thing that really got me was the sound of it

Every wave that rolled through just had an absolute defening boom to it.

Well, there I was yesterday, looking at the swell charts all depressed, when I get a txt, 2 of my mates are going to 'un-named west wales' spot. It's going to be windy and choppy, but there's a chance of something resembling a wave, so we head off...

Fleshin hell, did we have fun!! The waves were all over the place. After trying to paddle out for what felt like 30 mins, i got dumped on, and realied i was still only about 15 ft from the beach  Gave up trying to get out and messed around in the white water, got to my feet a couple of times, had a laugh. Halfway through, it started lashing it down with hail, really painful hail!! Hurt like hell, and we were there trying to avoid being dumped on by waves AND stop our eyes being gouged out by hail  And afterward, climbing along the rocks, the wind picked up to a gail and I got thrown down a hole, where i landed on a very pointy amorus rock  My bum is still very sore  And even though I didnt get any real surf in, ultimate respect to one of my mates, who got a few good rides, and really made it look easy!

Should've been here yesterday!!

Got over the East Coast this arvo, all North facing beaches were huge and a stormy mess so the Easterly beaches were where to head. S Bay not looking good one ish so bombed down to Filey, looked better so got changed in the snow. Got in and it went shite 40 mins for a couple of half decent 4 foot rides. Got changed and headed back up to South Bay.

It was firing head high and sweet as.

So changed back into a wet, cold wetsuit, in the snow again and jumped back in. For a very pleasant change (at this break) a steep and fast wave and some way better surfers than me were really going to town on some. One of the guys i travelled up with reckoned he even had a brief cover up, i think its the best i've ever surfed it there.

Um, OK, trying to to condense 2 weeks of surfing cos the boss is around! Had an awesome time in Morocco, the surf was good but probably wasted on me as I'm still mainly just messing around in the white water! Did manage to catch 2 green waves but each time was so surprised that I'd caught it that I forgot to stand up, and just shot straight down the face lying down! Dammit!

Surfed at loads of different breaks:

Les Mysteries (quite a few times)
Crocodiles
Devil's Rock
Tamri
Imessouane
Douze

The surf camp was AMAZING, a gorgeous villa on the beach, great food and the staff (particularly the Moroccon surf guides) were absolute stars!

Just found some images of yesterdays surf, this is how insane it was. It was almost like surfing a shore break at times, we were surfing 10 metres from the road as the tide was nearly high, 6m tides yesterday. South Bay Scarborough doesnt normally surf like this.

Burnt up after work this avo and hit middle rock Connies.... not bad at all for a 3.5ft swell.. sets for easily 4ft and dumpy on the inside..be phat on the out. Not the best a low tide it seems.

got the scraps left at leven of the west swell this afternoon... not really worth it but kept the emmits entertained with my surfing bare rock exploits...

This east swell is really running now stopped off at a mates in falmouth and did some filming of the breaks in that area. Gonna hit south of st.austel tomorrow.
