I have a question about how far the beach owners can go. Lets say the beachs water is deviding into two sections, one for swimming and one for whatever... anything goes. In the swimming section of the water, no surfing. But the people who made that rule dont own the water, so whats to stop you from going to where the better break is (which happens to be in the swimming area)?

acording to maritime law as I understand it your suposidly able to float anywhere but you may still get hasseled.remember athority figures bend or break the law in order for you to give up your rights then use it agenst you and try to conceal the fact that they too are superseeding the law it's a touchy game that can involve laws ,lawers, fee's,and constant problems that's just the way the eleatest set it up and it's hard to fight power with limited recources and typicaly a wast of time even if you win you may still lose.but if ya must just do your homework theres not much ya cnn't get away with remember OJ.that is of course unless someones got it in for ya then as always watch yo a$$.

Im fine with not surfing where the swimmers are, actually that was a good idea. However the stupid swimmers come into the "unprotected beach" to swim and boogie board and get into surfers way. Then they have the nerve to ask surfers to go like a mile down the beach where no one is when they have an intire section about 2 miles long devotated only to them..... makes me soo mad. :x

around here the "authorities" wont let the swimmers into the surfing areas. unfortuanatley if you have a sponge you can go there.
