Well, i guess you have to stand on your board as quickly as possible..once u catch the wave, pop up real quick, probably in under a second..just try to do it as fast as u can, then u wont probably rub ur knees on the pad..i dont know if i make sense here..i never had that experience so i cant really tell you what to do, im sure someone else can help you out..im sorry
