I used to work nights, 10 PM to 6 AM. It totally sucked since I was the only person in the building for those hours and I eventually got to a point where I'd get home in the morning and be up watching crap on TV for a few hours before I could drift off, then I'd wake up at like 8 PM and miss out on daylight completely. I was absolutely miserable and had to leave that job after like 2 months. I guess I just couldn't take not seeing sunshine and other humans for long periods of time.

Yeah I night shifts too, but within a rota that incorporates all sorts of times:-

earlies=07:00-17:00 and 07:30-17:30 and 08:00-18:00,
lates= 13:30-23:30 and 14:00-00:00 and 15:00-01:00,
nights= 21:00-07:00.

And they always go in that order, a forward rotation so nights are always followed by earlies :x ! ok with with a 3 or 4 day break but sucks even so cos all I'm doing is struggling to get my sleep pattern back to normal following being nocturnal. And the other problem is we only do 3 or 4 days on each shift so never really get used to it. But I suppose it does mean the potential for a midweek daytime surf is there... sometimes :P !
