Currently restocking my van for the summer season.

What do you always take with you on a weekend away?

I guess a torch and leatherman are what i am never without.

Duct tape.

Always.

Plus my tools, usually a set of impact sockets, the average joe's tool box, some wrenches, a jack, filter wrench, pressure guage, spare tire, etc etc. I also have this really really sweet thing that you charge up at home, and has jumper cables, so you can jump your car on the beach by yourself if need be. Plus it has an air compressor so you can fill up your tires after you bleed them for the beach. It was only like 50 bucks, and if you use it once it's most definately worth it. All that stuff always rides with me, on a surf trip, just add boards, quart of resin, suncure, ton of wax, leashes, fins, etc. I have a big box I just throw in the car.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.... my essentials would be water, a bit of food (that will last) for emergencies, gas cylinder hair straighteners (how could a girl live without them?!) hairbrush, torch, flip flops, toilet paper (essential if camping), music, phone with car charger (mainly to tell the time) plasters, vasoline, suncream, scissors (surprisingly always useful) toothbrush & paste, and then clothes etc.

   I admit I'm known for NOT travelling light!!!! I'm starting to worry about what to take to Hawaii... but I'm beginning to think actually I only need some swimwear, shorts etc and makeup. Everything else I can buy when I get there.

Is anyone here really good at travelling light? How do you manage it? What I really hate is if you only take 2 pairs of trousers and then both get wet through (with rain!) and then you have to go around looking like a soggy mess as you can't dry them!

i just spent about an hour perving over just just kampers accesories. I dont need them, I really dont need loads of obscure camping stuff. I just want them in the same way I used to want things from an argos catalog when i was a kid.

water, food, beer, tobacco, change of clothes, cards and cash, hairbrush and shower stuff with towel and the intention to buy a first aid kit.

Surfboard and wetsuit - though I had to turn back to get the wetsuit last time

Going on a surfing trip around here normaly is only for the day. So it would be boards, wetsuit(gloves & boots), wax, spare leash, water, food, wallet, cell phone, map. Really dont need alot. If it was a weekend thing, it would probably mean my tent, sleeping bag, abolutions kit, lantern, more food....ect

Work out if there is anything you can't get there, and only take that. I've gone away before with just a change of clothes, a camera and my passport.

If it doesn't fit in my backpacking pack, then it doesn't go. Unless it's in the name of surfing, then I make some room :D
