dumbest thing you've done

what's the dumbest thing you've done while surfing or you have done to your board.
last summer i put a huge shiny sex wax sticker on the bottom of my board

O wow! hehehe. The dumbest thing that ive done on my surfboard has to be either the time i just got curled by this wave and hit my head on the floor of the ocean. or the time i was using my freinds fish and on the first wave i cought i nut myself on the board. If you ask how you nut yourself on a surfboard I couldnt answer that but i can just remember it hurt.

Most stupid thing i have ever done has to be putting the wrong leash on my mal and it spinning round and hitting me bang in the middle of the eyes

For you to get the full effect, I must paint the full picture.

It's Newquay Bay, towan beach in cornwall, the sun is shining, the ladies are scantily clad. I've just put my suit on outside the Red Lion (for those of you who know)

I'm striding confidently down to the harbour wall with 2 friends who are beginners and a particular lady I had my eye on and was very keen to impress!

The waves are about 2-3 feet and clean, tide is fairly high so the harbour wall is behind the lineup (the left is working off the wall beautifully like in the attached pic - we were paddling out from the far end of the wall which you can see).



My 2 friends are looking a little nervous about paddling out from behind the surf, so I act all confident and reassure them. We start down the steps to the water's edge taking care not to hit the boards against the wall. I look back up to the top of the wall where the special lady is watching and give her my most confident and cool smile.

A wave rounds the corner and the water around my feet swells to be around my knees, but I wait for the next one. As the next wave comes I ready myself to launch into a confident paddle out of the harbour and into the lineup.

So I have my 2 friends behind me waiting to follow my super confident lead and a lovely lady watching adoringly from above.

The water swells around my knees again and I launch myself hard onto the water. At precisely this point, my leash catches on a nail behind me and as it pulls tight, my board flies backwards from my hands and I go sailing over it into the water. My board smashes against the corner of one of the steps and a 3 inch chunk gets taken out of the tail. Meanwhile as I land face first in the water I catch my groin on the nose of my board, cry out in pain and get a lungful of seawater.

My 2 friends are now p*ss*ng themselves laughing as I come to the surface couging and spluttering. I can't even bear to look up at my 'admirer', so I pull my board over to me and paddle towards the break feeling like I have performed with the style and grace of a seasoned idiot.

I'm able to laugh about it now, but I don't know which was more damaged, my board, my groin or my ego!!

i've got too many to list ! .. my most recent 'hardcore dumb ' was the day after new years day down at Wollacombe ... a group of us had decided to go for a 'mad'new years dip ...as it turned out only two of us decided to go in because the wind was howling making the temperature even colder , my bud lewis wearing a full winter wetty and me the hardcore idiot wearing a shorty went strolling up the beach being shot blasted all the way trying to look casual !.
15mins later lewis looked at me and dragged himself out the water , i followed ... by the time we got back to where everyone else was huddling in the rocks i had the beginnings of hypothermia .. legs had completely shut down hands and arms as well ... i then had to get my bud neil to strip me down as quickly as possible .. and yes in front of 10 others including a new gurly to our clan , as he ripped my shorty down my back my undershorts went with it and im stood there shivering like a naked lil' kid in front of a cheering audience ... and yes water 'that' cold basically turns a man into a woman

Hardly Anythin Really Cus i havent been surfing that much. But i did think i had got swept out to sea then i put my feet down and i could touch the floor. That was embarrasing after telling my mate.

So many moments for me...my most recent one was this...not my best moment but still something!

It was early morning, around 6am with a really cold breeze blowing down the valley out to sea. After spending around an hour surfing that spot we (thats me, adrenaline and matt) danced our way around the rocks and seaweed to get out of the water and headed back to the vehicles since the swell was increasing further down south in the shire.

So were back at the car getting changed and it was still quite dark. Awkwardly I danced around the place removing my wetsuit which was hugging my skin like spandex. Towel went around me and off came the shorts to reveal absolutely nothing I was around the back of the car and I could hear a car up the road and watched the headlights come on. As I walked around the side of the car and put by boxers on my towel slipped out of my grip and i stood up rather suddenly to reveal my pea sized glory as it was embraced by the headlights of the truck infront of me which sped past with a woman and two children in it! Poor kids...must've been scarred for life

But...2 Days later I turned up back at work and my line manager (Who happens to be rather fit) came up to me and said if I enjoyed my surf on my day off...I just said yeah it was good thanks not thinking much of it and then a few seconds after it twigged...how did she know I was surfing??? I didn't tell her... I said how did you know i was surf... and before I could finish she said I saw you standing butt naked in the road, exposing yourself to my kids not that there was much there! lol aaaaaaargh! brilliant moment, embaressing but brilliant lol

Decided to go body surfing with the top of my wetsuit down....if you are wondering, going body surfing with the top of your wetsuit down is the best way to take it off.

LOL!!! nice one tic tac.....

Well I would have to say the first time I went surfing.....forgot to do up the zipper on my pocket...about a half hour later.....felt down...no more truck keys....Spare was over an hour away, luckily my moms friend drove it out for me......i owed him a case of beer for sure for that one....it was pretty embarrassing. i still havnt heard the end of it from my brother who was with me.

id just had an ok 2-4ft sesh at boscombe, and i got some white wash in, i was laying on my longboard happily cruizing in, when the wave reformed, and it made the board pearl, then it broke i flipped over the board flew of infront of me and i was then sitting down in about knee high water with my mate pissin himself

and another i was paddling in for a 2ft wave, when it all walled up, so i sat on the back of my longboard and tryed to get off it, but my noes dropped in and it catapulted me flying into the air, it was pretty cool if you ask me
