Tom-Irons :)

Like was said...you can normaly save a bunch by purchasing on the internet. Go to a shop, and try them on, figure out what size you need. Then pick em up online...

With batman on that one, try out sizes at a local shop if you have one then go on the net, I use www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk and the sizes charts are very good so you don't have to necessarily go to a local shop to try out sizes.

Ya, I got a great deal on a rip curl f bomb winter suit, i just used the sizing chart. Worked out for me, suit fits great. Though if you can get to shop you can try it on to make sure.

sissy? no, i dont think so. Saw a guy in a shortie at bmth in mid january, needless to say he was sat on the beach looking very cold with raw, red skin from the chilly salt water. Sod that for a laugh! definetly go for a thicker full suit. Buy cheap, buy twice! as my mummy used to say

(I didnt respond earlier cos I thought you were joking with that suit - sorry)

Wetsuit

Postby eastcoaster » Sun Mar 11, 2007 7:25 am

what Tic Tac says goes against the whole ethos of surfing.

"go into a shop, try one on and then get one on line cheaper" no way

we should all support our local surf shops otherwise one day they won't be there. it is much better to buy a suit from a local surf shop from guys who surf than from a dude who has set up an internet shop and happens to have a spare room full of pyscho 2's. most surf shops will do you a deal anyway as in this day & age they need the trade!

c-skins have been good for me. have had them since he beginning. you won't find them in any internet only "surf" shops as carey brown (the owner & uk surfing world legend) doesn't agree with it. its the warmest suit i have had and i have had (almost!) every other brand. couple of my mates wear xcel and they reckon thats the nuts too.

There's one day a year, towards the end of august, when surfing in devon in boardies is comfortable

I always go in once a year in boardies... just the once, mind...

So i should pay twice the money, just so someone who over prices their goods can stay in business?

You might want to read a bit about something called 'economics' ...!

Missing the point

Postby eastcoaster » Sun Mar 11, 2007 5:53 pm

you are missing the point. there are shops that over-price stuff granted (mostly in newquay!) but most stick to the recommended retail price. it is unfair that a guy (who probably doesn't surf) with a spare room full of oneil wetsuits can undercut a real surf shop on the coast just because he doesn't have to pay staff, rent etc. if you are going to get a suit, get it from a real surf shop, that way you are putting a little bit of money back into surfing (be it the free surf check over the phone, or to help a sunday worker/surfer save up a few pennies for an indo boat trip). keep surfing money in surfing, don't line the pockets of .com merchants & non surfers (i mean just the online shops, surf shops with websites r cool) otherwise one day you'll be at the becah and need something like a fin or a repair kit and there wont be anywhere left to get one from unless you've got a laptop, free wireless connection and 1-2 days delivery time...

it really does suck ass that someone will suggest taking the time to go into a surf shop, allow them to waste their time fitting u up for a suit, only for you to say thanks for that and go buy one from somewhere else. thats not what surfings about. thats the attitidue thats creeping into the line up far too much, snaking, burning, fleshin' over a fellow surfer for a couple of quid. it sucks.
