Hello all!

Hows tricks? im new to this site although I have been lurking for a little while.

I just wanted to ask, as someone who has never tried surfing before, if there were any good recomendations for schools in the devon area?.

Ive looked at woolacombe and it seems like a good place to start out as its pretty cheap to stay there too, If there are any other suggestions I would be grateful. Im currently in Swindon and am willing to travel a reasonable distance.

Not too sure about surfing schools in Devon, someone on here might know, but if you head down to Cornwall, theres a few that i could recommend.

You'll be fine at woolacombe, perfect for learning. Get in there early before spring arrives properly otherwise it'll be as crowded as any of the other spots in the area

Hi there Deanyboy, welcome to the forum. You might also want to think about learning at saunton as it's one of the better places to learn and is huge.

If your going to head to Woolie, try these guys out for hire and instruction - http://www.nickthorn.com/

Swindon eh? Your nearly as far away from the ocean as me! I'm from Oxford but I lovingly refer to Woolacombe as my "local" break!

Good luck with it all.

Speaking of which, what's the surf like if you walk a lot further down the beach at Saunton? I don't think I've ever left the first half k.

The same, slow and not very steep. Ideal for learning on.

Thanks for the info guys!, and the welcome!. Nick Thorn was the school I looked at with accommodation at Europa park, they seem to have some good packages, as for saunton, I will have a look to see where it is my geography is rubbish!.

I used to kite surf a bit and hope some skills will be transferable, my balance is ok but I will propbably end up bugging you all for tips from time to time ha ha!

Thanks again!

Hmmm... Having re-read it, I really should change the tag saying "some sort of mutant pickle" to "Place of bogeys"

Right click on the map, and click 'save as' - save it to your my pictures folder.

Double click it in your my pictures folder to open the windows picture and fax viewer and click the print button at the bottom.

If you want a copy of the map without the silly labels, or you want me to move it about a bit I'll do it for you if you want and post it here.
