Ahhh!

Postby tomcat360 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 3:53 pm

So this morning, I bundled up like usual, expecting like, eh like 30 degrees (-2) but I walk out and its humid and 65 (like 18). So it's all nice out, sunny sky, and I cruise to school listening to some good surf music--

then I check the surf--it's waist high, super clean, barreling, super sunny, and looks really really warm!!! (although I know its not)

Ahhhh, anyone having the summer surf itch? Yeah I like winter surfing, with some massive waves and the cold.....but I'm really itching for some mellow, longboard waves that I can trunk it.

Ahhh!

yeah man I know exactly what you mean...I despise the cold, especially when there's been no snow this year to snowboard around the numerous hilly roads around my neighborhood :( .

Down here yesterday It was chest to head. It really cleaned up later in the morning. Chest to head is a little much for me (just a novice). This morning it looks waist maybe a little bigger. Perfect for me. I think I am getting sick. Gonna wait till early afternoon and see how I feel and if I feel no worse I am going to get wet.Image

I checked it in the morning that day, and it was absolute wind-blown crap, but then around lunch time I checked and was amazing, saw some guy get a standup tube.

Well I talked to a bud today and he said that when he went last Saturday at VaB it was 39. Then he went today and it was 50 deg water at Hatteras....!!!

Looking like next weekend I may finally get back in!!

Grass is always greener dude, in summer you'll be sayin' it's too flat - roll on those winter waves.

I AM looking forward to the summer though!

well it is blowing so hard here, that it is complete whiteout conditions....On saturday night alone we got like 4cm of snow here. Everymorning i wake up to more snow...looks like it will be atleast another 2 months before I even consider no jacket....let alone tshirts or shorts.

Summer surfing?

Is that like when you don't have to wear a hood?

(cheers for translating the temperature cos I'd have no idea what you're on about)

This is one of the worst times of year...I can't stand winter and it seems like every year early-mid march you start getting those odd warm days, not needing a coat....and just when you think you're out of the woods then BAM, another cold front blows through and you gotta get the scarf and gloves out of your closet again. Maybe I'll like winter better when I get a 5/4 and booties/gloves/hood. I didn't buy any of that stuff yet cuz I'm still too new for winter swells...I'm desperately waiting for it to warm up so I can get back in the water!

spring is in the air (almost) and summer is on the way. I'm looking for a longboard now... I'm longing for gentle waves on a gorgeous summers day with a light breeze when the whole world just seems ok. Fed up with dodging local shoredump and being blown about by strong winds. Roll on summer...
