goofys v. regular

Postby bluesnowcone » Sat Feb 17, 2007 8:57 am

i dont know if its just coincidence but in quite alot of surf movies iv seen goofy footers ripping it up, and when it comes to regular they just do some good pumping. in the another state of mind clip on magic seaweed all of them are goofy footers, is there something god about being a goofy footer?

goofies rule!! probably because theres less of us and most people prefer going frontside. so more people take rights leaving more lefts for us goofies. thats probly a load of bullxxxx but its a theory.

Thats okay, cos I can be in the goofy club -I'm regular but prefer backside. And yes, it does mean you get more than your fair share of waves on the right (or left) day

:woot: I can go both!

Still a bit dodgy going goofy....like I am not as confident and think twice before trying to kick out 8)

yeah i get that too, but i think on the whole it comes to to what you practice most. I went through a phase where my frontside surfing was way head of my backhand and unconciously i was looking for rights all the time because of it (im regular footed), eventually my backhand got so far behind i had to force myself to work on it to catch up rather than taking rights i knew would be easier on me. I know regular footed guys who surf a consistant left here who rip on their backhand but when you see them on rights theyre style is a mess and really awkward looking.
Basically unless you only surf at a consistant point break on one side or the other i reckon you always need to work on both to keep them up to scratch, that way you keep your options open rather than taking sub-quality waves just because your more confident on one side.
