I've been fin chopped, got some stiches from the chops and from the reef...

Busted 2 ribs when the wave closed out over me and the board spun around the wave into my chest!
Thats pretty much it

I has this terrible wipe out, when the tide and winds had been really crazy after a hurricane swept the area. so there were these chunks of shell all over and i got slammed down and rubbed into it. When i stood up my hip's skin had been shredded on one side and my forehead was bleeding too. I guess it knocked my head pretty hard because i was dazed for a few minutes and didnt realize it had also knocked my bikini bottoms down too!

haha sounds like a successful day betty!

I've had all the normal stuff - lots of spinning under huge waves with all my limbs at full stretch, totally out of my control, had a few good chunks taken out my feet and legs by fins (sometimes other peoples, i have to admit..), and once i smashed my funny bone when my board got sucked up by a wave and hit me, and i couldn't use my arm for a while, but managed to get out back and sit and wait. I probably got wiped out by an unexpected big set at this point when i couldn't paddle thru it. You know how it is.

A few face plants on sandy bottoms, and i've nose dived a few times and got winded in the process. But apart from that, i've been lucky!

I think this is cause the first time i ever went out I had a broken big toe after a crazy drunk night in Thailand where I stood on a huge pot and cracked said toe right down the middle (longitudinal fracture..). So i guess that has warded off the anger of the sea against me.. for now!

I know exactly what you mean. When I recieved the fin cut to the head my arm and most of the right side of my body was covered with blood. But as you say when the salt water hits a wound it looks like there is lot more blood. It was quite hard not to panic but I just about managed.

Remember, let the cut bleed and don't wipe it with your arm, helps clean the wound out.

Ive realised that they use saline solution to expand the volume of blood in hospitals, fancy term for a mixture of salt and water...I guess it has the same effect as sea water would on a wound :?:
