Website is updated about as often as it goes off, twice yearly.

Apparently its breaking to far out and the main beack break there is working better. Fickle booger spot.

Developers are now talking about erosion protection even though its eroding behind the reef..

Narrowneck on the goldcoast had an artificial reef put in. It was mainly designed for the marine life, but in the right conditions it's an a-frame break!

Apparently the reef isnt yet finished.

1/3rd is either not filled or damaged, with a large part of the left needing repair (burst bag , whole length) and most of the right still unfilled because the bags are covered in sand.

Oh and its $1.5million.

I'm not aware of any burst bag and nothing has changed since my last update. The reef that was designed to be a sharp & abrupt abutment up out of the sea bed designed to "stand the wave up" & rifle off down it's leading edge continues to be totally surrounded/buried in sandbank and is still a gentle mound that cannot work properly. As reported previously by me it needs a full-on cyclone/storm to clear it of the built up sand and work better than it currently is. To-date I'm disappointed yes, but I have to remind myself the thing is neither finished nor able to work properly.

I do note also the primary designer, Kerry Black & ASR very soon after this project got underway started working on wave pool design with an alterable bottom. I think they realised you have to be able to totally control all elements (including the sea bed) to create "the perfect wave"
I'll post again on this if & when anything changes.

Ahh, that'll be why there's no drama about a burst bag - it's that one that's simply not there. I wondered about that. When the divers filled them they did every second bag and then back-filled the ones in between to achieve an even level - rather than pumping them solid one after the other.

When the were doing that side I wondered why they left that bag deflated, I didn't see any hole or rip when snorkling over & around it at the time.

Seems the website is updated better than it used to - they're running for cover now :-)
