Southern California

Postby Sillysausage » Sun Feb 04, 2007 6:59 pm

hi, I'm going to California in July, I know it will be boiling, but how hot will it be about? I also want to surf out there, but I dont know if there are many waves in the summer? Plus I would like to buy a board out there to save me taking mine over incase it gets damaged, how much will it cost roughly? any help would be appreciated, thanks

Temps depend on where you are, near the coast it will probably be mid 70s to low 80s in Orange County, San Diego should be similar, as you head up past LA it will get cooler along the coast. Orange County water temps top out in the mid 60s range. As for buying boards, there are lots of places that sell used boards as well as new boards they will range in price from a couple of hundred dollars, all the way up to near a thousand dollars. The waves are always around if you know where to look, though summer isn't as big as the winter.

yeah, summer isnt really the best time but as long as those storms down south keep forming, we still have waves..look for breaks that take the S or SW swell :)
