Wetsuit/thermal layering question...

Postby Wakka » Mon Jan 29, 2007 3:08 am

Hi folks,

Need your opinion...

What do you think about purchasing a cheaper wetsuit and a thermal layer to go underneath it? Would this be a better route to go than say a psycho II wetsuit? For example, purchasing an oneill Gooru suit and a thermal LS? Think that would be enough for the san diego waters (~60 degrees). Or should i suck it up and buy a good suit?

Thanks! :D

any 4/3 should be good for 60 degree water.
I surf in San Frnacisco with a cheap 4/3 (quicksilver syncro, 80$) and im not cold even now!
our water doesnt even get to 60!!!

water temp is 57 at the mo. I have had to resort to wearing my cheap 3/2mm with an oneil thermo. I get cold after about 40 minutes and get the shakes afer 1 hour 30 mins. A 4/3mm is not needed a decent 3/2mm is probably better than a cheap 4/3. Anyway you will never need a 4/3 in san diego. The water temp hardly ever drops below 55.

i think it's always worth spending the money to get a decent wetsuit, especially if you feel the cold (like I do)
