Do you know what they call motorcyclists in the NHS?

Donors.

Guy I used to know at least had a sense of humour about it, on the back of his helmet he had stencilled "In the event of an accident please drain before opening"

Tomcat, I talked to a client who downhill street luges and he wears a one piece motorcycle leathers by Alpine Star. He suggests that you get something tight (not joking, that is what he said) and with good armor in the knees, hips and elbows. Get whatever fits the best. He says that if it is a little loose then when you hit the pavement with it, it rubs the crap out of your skin. You won't get road rash but you will get pressure/rub burns. Anyways, he suggested you check out different brands and get what fits the tightest but is still a little comfortable.

Sounds like fun! Used to ride my board down hills with my friends until one day I pitched it doing around 35mph when I hit an expansion joint on a bridge deck wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I don't do it anymore

You cant beat AlpineStars - I demolished a wall using a pair of alpine stars boots (and a motorcycle)

And walked away from it. Okay, not quite true, I got carted away in an ambulance, but I could have walked, or at least hobbled, or maybe crawled, away if I'd needed to :?

Wish I'd been wearing leathers on my legs that day rather than jeans though...

Thanks for the help. I'll look into some alpine stars stuff

$&%% that sounds like it hurt!!! Bridges suck. So do railroad trakcs and stop signs

I almost got destroyed by an Xterra the other day when I was doing an S-turn, and drifted the second turn accidentially because the other guy in the race had my line. I drifted into its lane and I was seriosuly considering if I could lay down on my board and slide under it instead of hitting the grill. Luckily, she stopped, and my wheels caught traction.

Ya, it hurt. I borrowed a ride from a friend and didn't bother to adjust the trucks. They were too tight and i couldn't get enough arc in my turn so I couldn't turn very sharp. I tried turning but it was just these little slalom type turns and I just kept going faster and faster. Soon I was going too fast to bail and I just went flying straight down trying not to wipe from the speed wobbles. I saw the bridge at the bottom, didn't realize how fast I was really going, and as I was trying to think of what to do, I nailed the expansion joint, wheels jammed and stopped dead, I went flying, cleared the bridge, and ground to a stop.

One of my brightest moments. Ranks right up there with being pulled behind the truck on a tobaggan on the freeway in winter on the way to school

Wish I had more chance to learn to ride, only had a go on a trial bike

I wasn't allowed near them after my dad came off his when he was younger and powered most of his knee, he has one leg just over an inch shorter than the other.

Sooo tempting to get a bike licence.
