Hoods are better at keeping you warm... but a lot of people dont like them, because they feel very claustrophobic. I cant stand 'em, so I wear a twat cap in winter and thats generally enough warmth.

Only one way to find out and thats to try a hood on.

As its 13 degrees today (weathers gone mad, ice is gonna melt, we're all gonna die), I think I can get away without a cap right now

Hey Johno; it kinda depends on what suits you already have and what temps you plan on surfing in.

What's the difference between a hood and a twat cap? :?

Oh, and (in best columbo impression) Just one more question...,

What kind of wetsuits are any of you wearing in UK waters at the is Time of year? 3:2? 5:3?

I surf in the North Sea and wear a 5/4/3, thermal rash vest, 7mm boots, 5mm mittens, 3mm hood.

Hood is like a balaclava, cap is... er... a cap

The cap comes over your ears and has a strap below the chin. The hood comes all the way down and is tucked into your wetsuit.

Im in my 5,3 now (well, not now, Im in boxer shorts on my sofa). Beginning to get proper cold now, but still not arctic.

A twat cap is a hood, you just look like a twat wearing one :D
