Two questions I hope you can help me out with...

Hey all,

Know next to nothing about surfing. Just need to know two things, so
hoping you can help.

1. What is the surfing equivalent to Wimbledon or the World Cup, and
how often does it take place?

2. I remember reading about a young girl who was afflicted with a
serious injury / disability, and has overcome it to become a
successful surfer and a very young age. I think she was British, but
anyway, if this rings a bell could anyone please tell me her name
because I can't for the life of me remember it?

For question one it must be the ASP world tour

50 of the top rated surfers travel around the world to different spots and have a competition at each one.

(Its a hard lifestyle but someones got to do it )

It happens every year and lasts about nine months i think

umm question two..... i think there are a lot of stories like that, i know on was aired on like 60 minutes or one of those talking news shows :) . neways i cant remember her name, but she was like 11 and had her arm bitten off by a shark. she still surfs and can paddle quite well with one arm.

i also know a less famous one. sometimes where i surf at Narragansett theres the guy who lost his leg somehow, mabye in war or shark or w/e. but he too has become a very good longboarder (he has one of the replacement metal ones).
