Yeah, Im guessing thats a typo
Otherwise that'd be a lilo...

18 1/2" isnt very wide compared to what you're used to - I'm guessing you'd find that pretty difficult to get on with :?

You might want to check out something around 6'6" x 19½" x 2½"

the 3 3/8" thick seems rediculous

the 18½" and 2 3/8" does not seem sufficient for a good transition.

maybe 70ft was a "slight" exageration... but you kinda catch me drift when i say straight line big waves. like billabong oddeysey... if you haven't seen it you're not a surfer lol joke because in those situations i think u might just need speed so a gunn gives you that even though i would never surf them waves anyway. Tow in surfing there you go.

You are 100% correct. Going from a 10' to a 6.10 has been a challenge to say the least. When I had it shaped, I thought about a fun shape, but I've been there done that. I wanted something that I could get out on, in wind blown slop, and chop.

I still have my beloved log for the glassy cleaner days.

IdRatherBeSurfing:-
Probably a bit late but I just stumbled across your discusion. Any way having gone from a 7'6" x 22 3/4 x 3 minimal to a 6'10" x 20 x 2 1/2 fatboy, for similar reasons to what you are stating, I can say that I have found it a bit tricky at times with the smaller board and have found myself going back to the 7'6" recently. I'm about the same weight as you and only a couple inches taller and although I can get out back, paddle and catch waves well enough on the fatboy it is harder work than on the 7'6 and so that equates to less waves per session and less progress with the stand up surfing, the fun bit! I'm personally considering selling the 6'10 and going for something slightly bigger maybe 7' x 22 x 2 3/4 so that the extra width and thickness might just give me a bit more speed and i can start working on my arials

Hope this is of help fella, happy surfing!
