Postby Africa Extrem » Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:00 am

hello!!!
my name is younes and i'm from morocco, and i would like to know if in any place sand board is practiced so as to know the spots where it can be done and where it is done , here in morocco we have a place in the desert where u can find sand dunes of like 300m long ,where sand board can be really funny with all the speed u can take, for this we use some old snowboarding boards (big ones for the sand) thx very much for your answers

Have tried it here in the uk and even made my own board which i have since come to the conclusion isn't big enough. Always found that just couldn't get any spped up even on really steep dunes. However on dunes with less deep sand and plenty of vegatiation we could get speed up but we decided that this was too destructive to the dunes so don't do it.
What are the dunes like you guys use???

hello!!
well the kind of dune that we use is a thin sand very big desert dunes in the south of morocco ,it's the biggining of a large desert that is 250 km far from agadir ;it's a desert so no vagatation ,and the fact that the sand is so smouth and the dune enough radical u can speed upand feel ur self like on fresh snow with less speed of course ,how big is your board?

same here on the base material. Sand boarding isn't big here though, so we make them (but not half-assed, since that is usually the image people get when I say "home made)

I was watching the Dakar Rally last week that travels through Morocco. You guys definitely have plenty of sand dunes just watching the footage from the race. Sand dune surfing sounds fun, but hiking back up the dune each time doesn't sound like much fun!

a nice buggy 1200 cc is very good for going back up to the top of the dunes ;) so the fun can be a real moment of hapiness
