here's a long shot for you-i am trying to get a surf club together at manchester university. mainly so i can get cheap lifts to the waves at weekends, but also to further the cause of inland srfers, and win the BUSA!!!

im a 4th year at manchester uni who's just arrived back after a year in san diego, california. i surfed daily out there, and now that im home im having serious withdrawl symptoms....i need to get in the water soon! have you had any luck in setting up a club? good to hear there is at least one other surfer in manc, ive never surfed in the uk before so it will be great to get some info on decent breaks. im here for the summer and looking to do a trip soon

Im due to be starting uni in Manchester this September- haven’t been surfing that long but being a coast girl I’m having a panic about not being able to get my board in the water while I’m at uni!

hey i dnt go 2 manchester uni but i live in manchester and i would LOVE to be able to go surfing reguarly but it just cant happen because i live to far away from any decent waves! has anyone got n e good ideas? i cant drive cuz im to young so i cant really travel to far, thanks dudes!![/b]

I thought Manchester uni (UK) already had a surf club/team...

Man Uni does have a surf club - well in a way. Mancheste Metropolitan has a long established surf club which has members from both universities and in some cases other universities. As long as youre a student - you can join. In terms of Manchester starting its own club, i think that would be a shame as this club is one of few which brings memebers of both universities together. So if your at manchester and want to surf feel free to Join the Man Met club.

Can anyone give me any more info on the MMU surf club, like contact details etc? Cant seem to find an active webpage or email address. Just moved back up here as a postgrad, when i was here a few years back the club was going through hard times i seem to remember. If it's now packed up, maybe we should reactivate it whatdya say??? Dont check in here much so shout me at...

I live near Manchester and don't don't mind driving to some breaks in North Wales or East coast, in exchange for splitting the petrol money and giving me some tips if you've got any as I've only just started surfing. I work shift so can often go in the week as well as weekends. I have roof rack for 3 boards. Get in touch if interested.

Best thing you can do is get down to the Athletic Union offices in the Student Union building. They will point you in the right direction.
