Had some allright sessions at old stoping grounds back home. Very refreshing to get away from family and food!

I had a cheeky south coast session today :D

I knew it'd be onshore, but I also knew (well, okay, fervently hoped) that there'd be enough of a lull in the wind around lunchtime to get a few decent waves in.

It was basically rubbish, and a right pain of a paddle, but I got a few good sections. My paddling muscles feel like jelly after the christmas indulgence - think I need to spend a bit more time in the water, and a bit less time in the pub

Bit scary though - there were dozens of 12'x1'x3" (ish) planks in the water, presumably lost off a boat in last night's storm

Then after lunch, bang on time, the second storm hit and it turned into a 40mph onshore storm mush! :?

Not a classic day, but better being in the water than being at the sales!

went to boscombe today a little away from the pier. Dumpy (have they been dredging boscombe?) and choppy so didnt really get much of a surf and got out when the wooden planks started drifting in - didnt want to get whacked on the head by one of them too. Wind started up just after I left.
Great to be in the water again though!

Wow, you got them too?
I assumed it was pretty local - at Wits there were several dozen in the water and washing up onto the beach, so if its all the way along the south coast there must be hundreds/thousands.

Yeah, they were a bit worrying :?
Taking off between two of them and predicting where they were gonna go as the wave closed out was a memorable moment of the day

no thay havent been dredging at boscombe, but they have put big pipes all along the beach in prep for all the flats i think, it give the place character i recon. i had an alright sesh at boscombe today, had about half hour of almost vert takeoffs on my longboard then the sholder/ head high wave just holding up so iv got so much speed them i smash off the top and land in the sea, it was so much fun.

Me too at boscombe today, i think the pipes are from the face lift they are giving the beach( pumping sand alone the whole stretch, they have slowly be moving up from bournmouth the last couple of weeks i think).

Went in on sat and had a good session, today felt 5hit after last night, just kept falling off

when they dredged at southborne you couldnt walk on it, and to be ohnist the beach dont look that bigger, oh well, the surf hasnt changed and thats what counts, did they dredge when they put the pipes on the beach?

just got back from bmth small but clean- nice days surf!!

Waves were breaking quite far out which gave me plenty of room to practice my pop ups in the white water - hopefully I am some way to unlearning the bad habits I picked up and managed to do it properly a few times.

yh i had a go at it on my longboard, there were two or three days when it was 1-2ft and realy clean buy without power and i just kept on getting wave after wave after wave, but unfortunatly there was alot of days when it was 4ft+ and 4ft surf is good exept when it is super messy, so i came 7th, but next year im gunu come 1st cas im gunu get myself and egg for the choppy days. the 1st prize is unbelivable, it was a noseless board, beach beat, tour of the beach beat factory then design your own board, 20 bars of wax, sunglasses, hoodies, board bags, sandles, fullwinter wetsuit gear, and a summer wetsuit, the list wetn on but i cant remember

Just got back from Florida on monday. Surfed Cocoa Beach on sunday. 4 foot waves but totally blown out by 40 mph onshores. Tried it for 2 hours though. Got a few, almost ran over tens of people trying to body surf, got blown 3/4 mile down the beach while trying to get outside, gave up, had fun rest of the day pushing my wife's 4 year old niece into waves on her bodyboard.

both the webcams are saying its really bad surf today, but i had some alright waves this morning at boscombe, had a couple which you could ride open face from the peir to the groyn but you had to wait for it to reform at one point, also if you catch the wave befor it breaks you got so much speed cas it goes vertiacal and holds up for a few seconds, but its only longboardable, but it was an ok sesh exept for the wind
