Postby Taiwan-surfer » Mon Jan 01, 2007 6:52 pm

hi all,
I just visit here and I wanna tell you all that I found a new spot in
Taiwan few months ago.
And it's start to break when the typhoon is coming ,
It's totaly epic and I guess no one surf there before
It's Beautiful Right hand tube.
If you get a chance, you must come to Taiwan.
There are many good waves in the east coast and the corwnd is empty.

I'm not sure about the hight
because I was standing on the shore and it's breaking outside
but I guess it's like almost 10 ft plus.. and it's breaking so fast.

and here is another picture,
maybe you can check out the wave size by this pic.
The tourist were shocked by the wave.

Wooo! That's more like it!

Amidst my australia and uk plans, seeing as it's only 100 quid to get to taiwan, I should get over there!

When is the typhoon/monsoon season there?

well if RI has seen 3 days like that EVER, then ya'lls surf kicks the rest of the east coasts' ass, hurricane or not. Even if we got swell like that, I don't know of a single beach break that can hold that swell. Those waves are like half a mile out there.

crazy stuff, so did you surf it?

The typhoon season here is summer(June~September)
But most of summer time,The swell is small.
So you gotta be lucky to get a Typhoon Swell.
It's better to come to Taiwan in Oct~March.more swell.
And I never surfed it before,Cause iit's too big for me.
And it's all reef bottom I guess.so it's danger for a rookie like me.
And I didnt heared anyone surf there.

I'm sure that was awe insiring to look at from the beach. I surely would die if I attempted to paddle out past that break! I'm sure the "high end" surfers of the world are going to put that location on their travels/scouting reports.

Wasn't there a magazine article saying the cops don't let you surf when it's big in Taiwan? Something lame like that! So was the article wrong? Can you go on days like this? I am catching the next flight....

Hey, don't give up the secrets of Taiwan's surf!!!!!! From looking at the pics, i'd say thats probably around _______ (thought I was going to give it away did you? HAH!), so I've probably surfed it.

Well, you aren't allowed to surf when the Typhoon has come ashore but it would be suicide to surf then anyway. The thing about Typhoon surf in Taiwan is that its REALLY hard to predict the quality of the surf. One typhoon will make absolutely perfect barrelling waves that go on and on forever, and the next will make a choss pit. Its hard to say whether the typhoon waves will be perfect or fukall.

cops here are suck.sometimes they don't let you surf even there is no typhoon and the waves just perfact.
Only because they think surfing is dangerous..fxxk them

But it's ok to surf if there's no typhoon alert. They can't give you penalty.
cops can only stand on the shore and call you back.
and we were always pretend to be not hearing.
8)

to formosa surfer :maybe you can tell me where you think the spot is.
and let's check out is it the same place? :? :D so nice to meet u here :)

Hey there, i am looking at heading to Taiwan in November. At the beginning of typhoon season. I was planning on hanging up north. Is it easy to get around/cheap aswell. And is there heaps of cheap backpacker style accom and scooters and cars to hire. Be greatful for some info. Cheers
