Wetsuit question - 4/3 too warm for summer?

Postby SoCal WaterSpout » Thu Dec 28, 2006 2:09 am

I live in Orange County, CA, and was wondering if my 4/3 might be too warm for summer. If so, should I get a spring suit, or just get a 3/2 full? The reason I went with the 4/3 was so I could wear it year round, but at the time was more concerned with the winter months, and didn't think about how hot it gets in the summer...

It is way too warm for summer. You will be sweating beyond means. I have a 3/2 that I where ususally until about june in the morning then I go to a spring suite to just shorts. You really need to have a couple of suites if this is something you plan to get into. I suggest that you go with super stretch suites as well.

Awesome, thanks OGR! I might go with a 3/2 with long legs and short sleeves.

I have a 3/2 - 3/4 (long legs & short sleeves)suit that I wear till the water gets to around 60 and the air is still warm. It works very nice. When the water gets to around 72-73 I go bare back. When that water goes below 60 I wear the 4/3.

anything around 63 and above is tolerable in just shorts or in your case a bikini :D If you wanna stay warm for a little while though, i would say thrown on a jacket or a spring suit.
