I had to explain to a girl at Croyde that the reason she wasnt getting on too well with her brand new popout was that she needed to wax it

...But she refused my offer of wax and replied that she didnt want to do that as wax looks mucky and her board was nice and clean :unuts:

If we are including wetsuite stories. I took a friend of my sons to buy his first wetsuit. He was having great difficulties getting it on. After about 15 minutes of him pulling to get it on he said this nad gaurd really sucks it will not let me pull it all the way up. I explained to him the strap goes over your shoulder to prevent water from flushing down his back. He walked funny for about an hour after words from racking himself up so much.

I was paddling out after a wave or something and this longboarder was next to me. So once a decent size wave broke in front of ourselves we both duck dived and I made it though, so I looked at him and he barely made it through and was in the white wash. Then the wave just through him right over the falls which was so funny  .

Sorry steve. :D

Your right it was a low blow and not the truth either. I was accused yesterday of being 95% hobgoblin and it was just my mischief nature getting the better of me!!!!
I'm with the back to front wersuit gag as well cause we got my brother with it last year at saunton when he did exactly that with my spare winter suit in the heightof the summer. Oh how i laughed.

Well if it wasn't me, I think I'd say one of the funniest moments was when I was body surfing after a long day of surfing with my wetsuit top around my waist. I took off on a wave and *pop* .......there goes my wetsuit..... :D

No one was around, but the boys got cold!

Saw the same thing at Fistral. This bloke had two kids with him, all with hire gear. Fistral was 10ft+ and blown out at the time which added to the mirth.

You're weren't surfing in sydney were you? Either that or you're not the first to do that... Saw that happen, and the poor guy struggled to get out of the water with his wetty stuck around his legs... On a crowded beach!

I remember surfing Torquay australia in mid July (Winter)..and some guy going out in boardshorts and a 6' hire shortboard!! Hillarious...He spent 10mins trying to paddle out to the lineup, and eventually gave up and rode the whitewater back in!

(Not to mention he was paddling with most of the board out of the water!!) :bang:

Funniest thing I ever saw while I was surfing.

Postby CutBack » Mon Dec 25, 2006 3:45 pm

I shouldn't have laughed bit I just couldn't help myself.
I watched as this guy who'd been sunbaking on the beach suddenly got up and ran at land speed record for the water. When he madly ran into the shore break he did this spectacular racing dive - straight on to a big blue bottle stinger. He got up and sprinted real fast back to his towel on the beach.

haha sum of these r quality

not really to do with surfing but it wos @ watergate bay...

i was skimboarding 4 a bit of fun with my bro and heard the lifeguards annouce that the people closest to the water might like to move back within the next half and hour because the tide was still coming in. so all these holiday makers stay there thinking they have 30mins but 5mins later the longest wave i've seen cam in followed by another followed by another... all these sun-burnt family's running around trying to pick up ther tents and cool bags running up the beach. funi as. me and my bro were just stood there laughing our heads off. All the lifeguard said was "sorry my mistake you might want to move back now" and he was laughing when he said it.

If you read my "1st surfing experience" post from this past summer of 2006...mine tops this! 5 minutes in water on 8 ft MinMal...same outcome. I did stand up once for about 5 seconds on a wave I pretty much missed, but also later discovered I broke my ribs paddling! I came into shore after 5 minutes because I was so exhausted I was afraid if I stayed in the water any longer, I'd have to be towed in by another surfer. That would have really been funny, but I saved what little ego I could salvage! Also, back in November I put on a wetsuit for the 1st time...and yes I started putting it on backwards but my brother-in-law corrected me before we went out to the beach. Anyone in the car parking lot witnessing mysefl geting ready still would have gotten a chuckle out of it!

Actually I have another funny "personal" story. Back 10-15 years ago, I was bodyboarding during summer tourist season in OCMD. I wasn't very experienced at all and rode all the way into sure (big mistake) I was about to go "over the falls" on a pretty decent sized shorebreak when I realized too late that I was going to face plant right into dry sand. As a last ditch effort to keep from getting hurt, I tried to throw the body board to the side of me so I could break my fall with my arms. Instead the board twisted between my legs and my "boys" got wracked up when the board hit the sand and nailed me between the legs. I tumbled around in the sandy shore break and limped like a neutered dog back to my beach towel...all covered in wet sand. I'm sure I looked like an idiot on that occasion and got some good laughs.

My brother and his friend (both surfers) and I were sitting on the beach after a session in mid summer. We were minding our own business. Three guys came walking down the beach, they had cut off jeans for shorts and looked like they had just came out from the under-world. I mean these guys just plain glowed white. Well as they passed my brothers friend told them they would make for a great sunscreen commercial. I don't know what irked him to say that. I thought fists were going to fly but they just gave us a dirty look and went on their way. I asked him (my brothers friend) what the heck was he thinking? After a moment we just had a good chuckle.

I know it sounds mean but you just had to see these guys!!!

I was one of those people who put there wetsuit on backwards 8)

It was six years ago, second time surfing, I think at hells mouth, and I was thinking I was sooo cool. None of my mates noticed, but other surfers in the carpark were pissing themselves as I struggled to change it.

I have never considered myself "cool" in relation to surfing since.

I have a feeling, your mates did notice.....it was just too funny :D

I know the type you are talking about that are about as white as the screen I'm typing on. I'm super pale, so I can't really talk. Actually, I'm pale, but have a permantent red tint, as I like to call it.

I saw this fat, extremely white and sunburnt red-headed guy (obviously english) at bondi a few days ago.
He got rescued and towed in by the life-guard on a jet-ski. Jet-ski dropped him off in the shallows and as the wave sucked out the dude was standing there naked (his boardies fell off during the tow) in front of literally thousands of people.
I reckon he was drunk because it took him a good few minutes to get his pants back on and meanwhile the Bondi Surf Rescue television show cameras were on him the whole time.
Anyway, he got a good cheer from the onlookers and provided some awesome entertainment for me, my bro and mate.
