Imagine the lines are your strings (bottom E = bottom line) and the numbers indicate which fret you should a finger on at that point in time. Hope that kinda explains things.

Ok so..............
1) What does a 0 represent
2) I assume a string with nothing on it means don't play it?
3) what the hell does 0h2 mean?

Mul of Kintyre is starting to get better, still sounds a hurrendous song though!

I've just discovered this programme that you can try free for 15 days.

http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php?pg=download

IT"S F**KING AMAZING!!!

Search for a tab you want on a tab site like this: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/

and look for ones that are 'Pro' under the heading 'type' on the far right

When you download them, they'll play in Guitar pro..............click play on the floating thingy and away you go!!!

Oh.........and by the way 0h2 is an open string played and then you hammer on the second fret without picking it

It would be a lot better for you if you could get someone to show you a few basic chords cos you've got to get the fingering (hee hee) right cos it'll really matter in the future.

Either get a mate who plays to show you or splash out on a few lessons, otherwise you might get a bit frustrated and give up.

We cant have that!!

1) 0 represents an open string (play it, just don't fret it.)
2) Absolutely
3) The h represents a 'hammer on'. By that it means play the open string then fret it according to the number, if you get what I mean?

Hope that helps.

Don't resist it dude. Full volume!!!

then play the intro to sweet child of mine...over and over and over and over........

ooooh, i can just hear it now!

I can play about 5 chords (tho i can never rememebr which ones!) and changing from one to another is painfully slow....I have to stare at each finger in turn and will it to move where i want it to!!!

Guitar Pro is amazing. Must have for anyone who downloads tabs or prints off their own. Now, I am not advocating free downloading of protected and copyrighted software, but if you were so inclined, you can go onto Torrentspy or a similar torrent search engine and search for Guitar Pro 5, and you can download it for free. Comes with a revolving serial number and keygen so you can register it.
Not that I would EVER do such a thing, and then use it, all the time, everyday, without any guilt, happily.

p.s. do not play sweet child of mine till you get god or it sounds shite every young new player does it and its not original unless you get it smooth and with absolute no mistakes slip or cock ups

mind you it always annoys me lstening to someone play a cover and make it sound identical to the original. I mean fair play its all good talent but i can listen to the real thing for that. I much prefer improv. I covered sweet child of mine many moons ago and the version we did was completely different - same riff - different set-up and wildly different lead. Its more fun when you do it like that :D
