also there seem to be less goofy folk around so you can get quite a few frontside waves when theres quite a few in the water

Actually goofy footers or backside riders get the best of it at my beach the reef surf is all backside for me

When you (regular footed) finally go to Bali and you check out the breaks.... You will be very disapointed when 9 out of 10 of the spots are lefts!

But it also helps if, when you start learning, pop-up on which ever feels un-natural. Then "hopefully" you should be able to ride both!
