Perth Surf

Hey I was wondering if anybody here is from WA and knew where the best sweetspots for surf/bodyboarding are.

I've hit up sandtracks before and I usually go there but the edge of the reef is where it's at and it kind of annoys me. Scarborough and Trigg are good but they're pretty far from me. Also, are there any secret spots further down (south-west WA) that have swell of 2.5m or more? IF so plz post

I think that Surf Patrol is from WA'. If not he is from somewhere on the West coast!

I here that surf there is all-year-round consistant and pretty much awesome?
But it get's a little chilly!!

Are you in the City? The best waves break on the reefs but you'll need a boat for that, or take the ferry across to Rotto - some great surf over there.

South West - Margaret River. There are plenty of spots that will hold 2.5m+
Like a lot of places, summer is not so good but there are waves to be found. Winter and there is good consistent surf.

I'm in the southern suburbs, Leeming.
Rotto huh? I'll give it a go when I can.
I'll check out margaret river when I can, I don't have a car myself, but my dad has a 4WD that can be loaded with like 6 surfboards so that's not a hassle.

No. Perth is definately not consistent all year round. In fact the Perth local beach and reef breaks are poor. The only chance of anyhting that remotely looks like a reasonable wave are during Perth's winter / spring months around May to October. Then, the Southerly ground swells generated from lows in in the Southern ocean hit our South west capes and are sent North up the West coast. There are a line of local Perth outer reefs which catch the full height of these swells and if you are an experienced surfer and own a boat you can surf off shore. Even then the wave quality is not what you would describe as classic. The island of Rottnest which is a boat trip from Perth can offer reasonably good waves. If you want to surf all year round in Perth, you will have to travel at least 4 hour's drive South to our South West breaks during the Summer months of Summer being December to March. There is mostly NO surf in Perth City local breaks during mid November right through to April. The howling South Westerly sea breeze comes in every day during these months and there is NO ground swell until winter.
