Christmas - yay or nay?

Postby Ellie » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:28 pm

I am REALLY excited about Christmas.
I'm driving home on the 23rd (that's Christmas Eve eve peeps!), going to my little village Crib Service on 24th, cooking Christmas dinner (cos my Mum cant lift anything as she's just come otu of hopsital aftyer an op.) and I'm planning on making it the BEST EVER in my family.

Buck's Fizz for breakfast, Sherry for elevenses...
Turkey, all the trimmings (yes pigs in blankets...chipolatas, yummyness!) roasties, snips, REAL GRAVY!, brussels, cheesy leeks, swede...
Followed by traditional English trifle (with the sherry that hasn't been drunk!)

And mince pies.....

Basically, THE WORKS!!

Also going to bring down loads of cheese from the yummy deli I've found, plus lots of German sausage from the Christmas market in York! And some curry spices from the Indian deli too. Only back for 5 days, and making the most of it.

So, are you looking forward to it? Or dreading the relatives?

Merry Christmas to you all! xxx

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!! Every year i get like this about christmas. Last year in NZ was nice but not the same. Not even close to being the same. So this is kind of my first proper christmas in 2 whole years!!

Woooohoooooo. My mums excited too, she keeps ringing me to update me, like ooh today i made the christmas cake, the turkeys ordered, the christmas tree is arriving next week etc etc. Will be so nice to be in a non mouldy house with a bath!! Mmmm long walks (and if i get a winter wettie- surfing!) on the beach followed by a bath and then falling asleep in front of the fire reading. BRING IT ON!!

I love Christmas. I love spoiling my family. I am thinking about buying my son a car. He gets his learners permit the second week of January.

That sounds FAB! I got a car for my seventeenth birhtday and spent much time happily stalling it in a car park.

Obviously now I am a perfect and wonderful driver without flaws!

blue cheese and bacon and the world's finest maize topped off with laser gadgets from Newfoundland and a supercooled fire stopper gringalot crammet. Can you spell Ichabod Crane if you lived on the other side of the Galaxy? I know I could cause I have an O Level in Galaxial studies.

I think we all need to stop and think about what Christmas is really all about this year.

Normally not much for christmas, kinda a scrooge mcduck, never really gotten into the commercial side of it too much. And my wife's dad passed away on christmas day in 2001, so we usually play it quiet and casual. But this year my wife and i are going to Florida with her whole family, should be fun. Actually looking forward to taking a break, relaxing, surfing a little, eating a little, even shopping a little, throwing the nieces into the deep end of the pool, teaching them to say shite and b*tch and dam and.....well, you get the idea.

Ellie - now that sounds like a great christmas. Lotsa food, drink and family/friends. Have fun and enjoy it :D

Merry Christmas!!

There's far too much pro-christmas cheer going on here - almost everyone seems to be in favour of it. So as my new role as Immoderator, with an added bonus of being Scrooge-like, I'd just like to say...

CHRISTMAS IS RUBBISH!!!!! SPENDING HUNDREDS OF POUNDS ON TAT FOR PEOPLE YOU DONT EVEN LIKE MUCH (**Note to Nephew and Niece - Not you kids, love you, Uncle Drowning**) GOING TO CR@P CHRISTMAS PARTIES, EATING RUBBISH FOOD YOU WOULDNT TOUCH THE REST OF THE YEAR, LISTENING TO FLESHIN' SLADE, PRETENDING TO APPRECIATE TAT THAT YOU RECEIVE, WRITING AND RECEIVING CARDS THAT ARE, FRANKLY, POINTLESS, THEN SITTING AROUND DOING NOTHING BEING FAT IN FRONT OF RUBBISH TELLY!!!!! IT'S ALL RUBBISH I TELL YOU!!!!!!

AND THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS!!!!!

And it gets in the way of going for a surf. Or, indeed, of having any kind of life whatsoever.

This seasonal message is brought to you by Immoderator Scrooge who's having a bitter and twisted day. Thank you for your attention.

Not getting in the way for me this year. Me and some buddies are disappearing into the wilds of the south west to surf and stay the hell away from all the festive madness.

I usually kind of dig Christmas but this year I really can't be bothered.

Next year I might have a go at celebrating Quanza!

I prefer DrowningSantaClausAndBabyJesus

I'm lovely really - but Im having a bad day which is partially christmas related.
(Note to our younger readers out there - No matter what the temptation or social expectations of your peers, never ever enter into what people mistakenly refer to as a 'relationship'. These so called 'relationships' are a ploy by sinister forces to remove all traces of personality and independence from your life)

Okay, as its you, I'll put up something festive...
