I once had an employee call me and say he went to fart while he was driving to work and got an unfortunate surprise. I lughed so hard I told him to take the day off with pay.

Of coaurse he did get a new nickname after that.

Nothing! Just went off on a tangent when Sal said she'd lost a load of stuff, which she probably put because i mentioned my brother in law lost his car. I posted that after reading mostyns posting. Hope that explains things.

when my tutor goes to me "why are you late?!" i tend to go... "why a you late?! " and then she gets confused and goes "im not late you are" and i say "well ur here and i'm here and it's currently the same time for both of us so technically either we're both late or we're both not late...
..lol.. really like this one hehehe :D

I use the following quite often lol :

" whats my excuse ?" ... tell you what, i'll give you a list and YOU pick the one that best fits the situation .. Ok ?!

Most common excuses:

"I posted the cheque days ago!"

"I slept through my alarm clock"

"That's honestly never happened before, you were just to beautiful"

"I didn't think"

"I didn't think you wanted me to warn you before I..."

"the dog ate my homework"

"Sorry, didn't see you there"

"I meant it for the best"

If they're likely to say 'no you have to come in' then wait till monday.
-If you ask for the time off now and they say 'no' and then you call in monday, they'll know you're blagging it.

If they're the generous types and will give you the time off, tell them early so they cant sort someone out to cover you.

Check the holiday chart too (if you have one) - if anyone else is off dont try and get it off as well - call in sick monday with any off the aforementioned excuses.

Sar - loving it!! The 'seeming nice and sweet and considerate' approach....(in secret, obv!) followed by the 'flesh the lot of them, I'm off!'

I bet you're one of those people that everyone thinks 'butter wouldn't melt' etc..... The best kind of people to be!!! Get away with murder!

 well, theres no point in wasting a 'sick day' on actually being sick!!

.....and also, im a terrible liar (I blush every time) so I cant deal with the 'so, what was actually wrong with you?' 'didnt you say there was going to be epic surf on monday? shame u couldnt make it.' ' was that you I saw on the Croyde surf cam' so I do my research and prepare!

I wish I was the 'butter wouldnt melt' type....they know every time!

Disclaimer:I have never pulled a sickie, I'm purely giving advice from the experience of running a team and recognising the sickie myself. I would NEVER behave in such and irresponsible and selfish manner!
