Accidental Tube Rides!!

Postby jdec83 » Tue Dec 12, 2006 6:30 pm

I was surfing at La Jolla Shores this morning, and I paddeled in a little too late, which maybe worked out for the best. As I was paddling, it got too late to bail out, and the wave crested over me. Barely any thread hole on either side! It tubed over me, and allof a sudden everything turned green. If I paddled at the right time and pop'd up, or was on either side of it I never would have been able to see it. I've never been in a tube, but now that I've seen one on my stomach I HAVE to get in one on my feet.
And by the time I realized all this, it sucked me to it's back wall, and slammed me to the bottom....awesome ride!

Ya, bodysurfing in St Augustine about 7 years ago. We were getting solid 7-10ft sets all week. was playing in the smaller stuff, and got sorta draged by current onto a sand bar where the waves were atleast 10ft(or felt that way), got tubed, and acidentally went straight through the wall....but wasnt really through the wall, hit it, and went straight down....

partly, i was at boscombe and it was dumpy, and i crouched down and tucked right in and and i was fully coverd in white wash, so more like a wash ride than a tube ride, but it was realy weird

I probably own the world record for shortest barrel. Saw the wave curl was almost on my knees and must have been covered up for all off a second but felt great when i stood back up the other side. I too want one of thos stood up full on cover ups.

Cool 8) You must have been in the right spot as most the tubes ive seen here lately have been super fast closeouts on the second break. Nothing outback to speak of mainly just rollers
