Help on Offshore wind wave

Hi, I been surfing for 1-2 years already.

but everytime when I face offshore wind, I find it is very difficult to catch the wave, I am always on top of the wave not in front of it. Then the wind just blow the water into my eyes, can't see anything.

When I try line up closer to the beach, the wave will be too steep..... :(

When on shore wind I don't have this problem..... any tips?

First time I've ever heard anyone complain about off shore winds. Off shore usually means clean, glassy, well formed waves. At least at every beach I've ever surfed.

You should move to NE Florida during the winters. About 80% of the time we have howling NE winds, which for us is on shore winds. Messy, unorganized, choppy, mixed up surf.

From reading your post it appears that you are trying to get into the wave to early, I also had a problem with offshore winds as they generally make waves more hollow so when you are on them they seem steeper-which makes take off a little harder!
You need to be aiming your board in the direction you want to surf(i.e not straight towards the beach),as the wave approaches paddle really hard to try and match the speed of the wave looking over your shoulder a couple of times to keep an eye on whats happening with the wave then the minute you feel the wave take you, give it 1 more hard paddle followed by a really quick popup,bend at your kness and engage the inside rail.

The only time water will blow in your face is if your behind the wave!

I think the secret is to really commit to that wave, the harder you push yourslf the easier it is, and lets face it whats the worse that can happen if it does go wrong

if its really howling offshore and blowing lots of spray off the wave so bad you cant see then you have to juist go by feel, and paddle much harder, if that wind gets under your board youve had it. Like FK said if your gettin a facefull of spray youvce probably already missed that one.
