I've been meaning to check out A Perfect Circle as I like Tool, but I have heard they are totally different. More "rock-ish" than prog-metal, like Tool. (what the hell do they mean by prog-metal anyways!) What do you think? Are they similar? Good chance if you like Tool you are going to get into A Perfect Circle?
One of my suppliers has one of there CD's, think I will get it off of him next week.

Jethro Dog,
A perfect circle is basically a 20bpm slightly more melodic version of tool, still great Maynard lyrics, but in APC, you actually find out he can sing!
TOMCAT, Morning view is a great album, light grenades (new one) is pretty good too, my favorite is still either make yourself or s.c.i.e.n.c.e.

Whoops, did I say wish you were here....

I haven't heard light grenades, but I also liked make yourself and science

Their older stuff sounds almost just like the older RHCP stuff(Fungus Amongus and Enjoy Incubus really sounds RHCPish), which is good, but I like their stuff once they began to develop their (more) own sound. Yet Make Yourself was between those two, and sounded more unique

Good stuff all around. I had actually forgotten about them for a while, but Morning View is one of those albums I don't get tired of.

I never really heard fungus among us, but enjoy incubus is pretty good too. I think their music really fits well with surfing, their lyrics have this sort of eastern thought too them.....good stuff

"Imagine your brain as a
canister filled with ink
yeah, now think of your body
as the pen where the ink resides"
-This seems almost like something out of the Tao Te Ching, that we are a vessel, and "the way" is in us

"Blesses she who clearly sees the wood for the trees
To obtain a ‘birds eye’ is to turn a
Blizzard into a breeze"
-Very meditative and transcendant, unlike the goal orriented western thought.

That is just my opinion, but that's the great thing about music, everyone creates their own reality out of it.

Oh so you meant eastern like, eastern hemisphere. I thought you meant east coast for some reason.

I think you're on about the eastern influence, also heard in Aqueous Transmission (last one on Morning View)

I personnally like Science the best, with Morning View next in line. Fungus Amongus I found to be too random although I like the bass lines in it. Never really got into their other albums, have them but only listened to them once, forgot about them. Will have to maybe try them out again.
Do you listen to Faith No More? A little harder than Incubus but they remind me of them in a lot of ways. Love 'em!
