"Company" name?

Postby tomcat360 » Mon Nov 27, 2006 3:42 pm

So I'm about to glass the top of my board...and still haven't thought up a clever name, or logo.

I was doing the little 45 record adaptor for a while on my skateboards, which I still might do, but apparently Burton used to do it in the 80s.

So anyways, does anyone have a good idea for some "company" names? Hahahaha....I'm a "company"

I had the same problem when I made a board, i came up with Forge surfboards which was crap, but is now glassed in forever.
When i came to open the shop i sat down with a surf book and my computer and each decent surf terminology i thought sounded o.k I checked if the domain name was available, thats how we ended up as North Swell. Hope that helps. Or you could make it your break specific if its got a nice ring to it.

Why not "Tomcat"

That's kinda cool.

I always thought "Unity" or "Epic" would be cool board companies.

Epic Boardworks.

That's got a good ring, IMO.

Something that's somewhat local would be nice, and it would kinda emphasize where I'm coming from. I was thinking of something that might have a dual meaning, but then it would confusing, so I bagged that.

I just thought of one I liked, and I have already forgotten it....

Someone suggested I look in the surfer's encyclopedia, but I haven't been able to find one.

I'm not set on putting boardworks at the end of it, but it does open me up to more possibilites than just surfboards, and I wouldn't have to change things.

How about...

Southeast Boardworks
Lake Atlantic Surfboards (haha)
Northwind Boardworks (my street name, however, northwinds SUCK for surfing here, so maybe not; its kinda tough to say too)

I dunno, just rattling off....

Woodshed Boardworks, or Woodshed Surfboards ?

Thinking of where I make them, which is pretty much anywhere I can. My shed is kinda a woodshed, but shed by its self doesn't sound so great

Except I hope Woodshed Films wouldn't be mad.

Woodshed reminds me to much of BYB back yard boards.

I say 360 control.

how about "I couldn't think of a name for my board company, so I'm writing this crap to fill up the logo space"

or something totally stupid like Gringo's Gardening Supplies... you never know.. it might actually turn out to be one of those cool names everybody wished they thought of first... in fact if you don't use it, and I ever start making boards, I think I might usethat as my company name

Just tapped a few domain name searches in for you, i've nothing much else to do today.

Epic Boardworks,Tomcat, Southeast Boardworks are all available, you got to register the domain incase it really kicks of for you.

I got the Lion from a clip art cd and played around with it until I was happy (using photoshop), then just put the S.A. flag behind and used a free font for the type.

Have you got any ideas if you would use a symbol/emblem or would you just use the name?

Oh yeah, and any thoughts of the logo in my avatar? It was the old one, but of course I can put a name with different logos.
