Surfing Around Portsmouth

Postby Lisa » Thu Nov 16, 2006 7:37 pm

Hey!

i'm new to the forum so sorry if this is in the wrong topic or whatever.

I live in Portsmouth and i've been to Newquay every summer for four years now with my family. The first year i had lessons and hired a board.
the second year i bought a minimal and i still have it now. I go to Newquay for about a week to two weeks so i don't get much surfing time.

i live in portsmouth and the closest surfing beach i no of is Bournemouth i went there yesterday with my dad and it was great. but the issue is i'm only 16 so i cant drive so i have to wait until my dad can take me.

i hate the fact that every year i go Newquay i'm back to square one because i cant surf anywhere else.

i love surfing so much so i'm still going and everything but i was wondering if anyone has a sollution to my problem. i'll be starting college next year and then going to uni after and i intend to go to plymouth so its all good then but any tips untill then?!

Please help!

hey Euan I didn't realise you lived in Fareham too....

I already said you're welcome to get a ride with me when I'm going down to Bournemouth/Boscombe as are you Lisa.

Only thing is I work until 4 during the week (apart from Fridays) so it's usually the weekend for me unless I manage to get an afternoon off, like today! which by the way was not awesome, but it was a fun day anyway!

I'm not very good tho :( I need help. i think when i go to Newquay next year i'll get some advance lessons.

i fink i'll gather some mates to come to Bournemouth with me then - i dont like catching trains alone... they can sit on the beach while i go surf :)

well, lessons are good, but nothing can substitute for practise! If you keep surfing, you'll get better and better!

you should also get your mates into surfing, because I don't think they would be very keen on sitting on the beach during winter!

I honestly couldn't tell you! It's a bit of a way down the beach, and I really don't even know whether they're open during winter... I very much doubt it cause i can't see many people too keen on learning over the winter!
