New Years/Surfer Traditions

Postby pault » Mon Nov 13, 2006 11:34 am

Ok I've been chatting to a few locals, and they all say they go out for a surf on New Years Day as a tradition.

Do you folks go out for a New Years Surf?

Was wondering if there are any other litle surfer dude/dudettes traditions :D

sounds like a good plan....tho dunno what i'm doing/where i'll be for NY yet!

I used to go on a yearly Boxing Day climbing trip with some mates...stopped going after a few years, after one year it took 10 days for my feet to thaw out enough to feel my toes.....i kinda felt that that kind of prolonged cold/discomfort wasn't fun anymore! :?

I don't know about it being a tradition. That being said, any day I have off with out a huge honey do list I will be in the water.

I surfed the sunrise during the summer solstice, and that was a helluva experience. Me and two mates agreed to meet up every solstice for a dawny, so thats my new tradition I'm starting...
Will be surfing this new years day, mainly cos I'm on a surfing trip in Ireland at that time... :D

Back home we had this kind of tradition with snowboarding - every year for new years eve we went up on our mountain with snowboards, cause all pists were under lights whole night...pretty cool and a beautiful view of all fireworks.... Now, when I'm in australia I might try to keep the tradition with surfing:) :D
