Any good? And for that matter, do they have a website? Or an Address? I tried googling (well, scroogling) them and didn't find anything...

Ive been on a wave machine 1 time it was fun but aint the same thing. Did hear a funny story though. Aparantly some guy learnt to surf on a wave machine in vegas and descided to take a trip down to san diego on the biggest swell of the year - it was hist first time surfing in the actual ocean  No guessing what actually happened  Lifeguards were seen dragging a half drowned vegas man out of the water

Theres no substitute to the real thing

Surfing isnt just about the wave riding its self. There is so much I just couldn't write it in one post (also because I am lazy and don't really want to explain  ).

I mean for starters...poping-up...how did he even manage that?!

I think this pool isn't exaclty like the whole, shoot a water over a ramp thing. It's actually a moving wave. But I'm pretty sure that you don't have to paddle much, and there is a specific line up bouy.

Still not the same, and like 20 bucks a ride.

i think its just gonna be alittle ramp with water flowing up it and a little river thing connected to it to float about in, not one of those full on flowrider things with a barrell that youve seen kelly and tony hawks on in the videos.

Ah....that's too bad. I think Ron John's is still looking for a place to do an actual wave pool, as in one of the big ones. I saw a drawing somewhere for some wave pool, which I thought was Swansea, but I guess not. It was kinda cool lay out, like a pro shop, burger shop, big wave pool, practice pool which was the water on the ramp thing.

here we go....

That's what I was thinking of.

no its definatly not gonna be a wave pool like that one they had in japan, although the new pool will have a wave machine but just one of those "bob up and down" ones for swimmers. Theyre building it on the site of the old lesiure centre and there wouldnt be enough space for a wave pool

Any idea when "soon" is? I tried emailing them but I probably won't get much answer for a little while. I am going to Orlando for christmas, was going to hit Cocoa Beach for a couple days to surf, if they have a pool in Orlando, what the hell, might as well try it. Get some pictures so everyone here can get a good laugh.

Surfing indoors. Who'd have thought it? What a righteous idea.

had a look earlier in the week, not much in the way of building, looks like theyre still clearing out the old stuff. There was a big poster up with some pictures of the planned facilities, the one of the surf stream had some kids on sponges on something which looked like a machine similar to this one- but more lame
