Buckled board question

Ok guys Im getting a shortboard for cheap. Its a South Coast 6'10 x 20.62 x 2.8 Short Board. This is going to be my first surfboard, anyways the owner said the board got buckled when he got it, just the top foam, but it has been repaired. Is there a chance that the board will break on that spot again? since its not one piece anymore.

id reccomend you stay away from a board thats buckled..

but thats only me, especially since its your first shortboard, youll be stepping on it quite heavily, and I'd say the chances of breaking again are pretty high

"Just the top foam" makes no sense. Ask the guy how it broke, and tell us specifically.

Asked how it's repaired. Done correctly, with inserts, reshaped foam, and re-glassed, then it's good. If it's just slapped back together then forget it. And if foam that had been water logged without being replaced, then don't buy it.

Anyways, a shortboard isn't a suitable first board. Go to your local shaper and get a funboard.

I would definetly get more detail before purchasing.

yes the board is from craigslist. this is the description "This board was buckeled when i got it but it has been fixed and you cant even notice it. Board otherwise is in great condition. Comes with leash and traction pad." then I emailed him about the buckle and he said this "the foam on top buckled. It didnt break all the way in half. the bottom
of the board is perfect"

I think what he meant was that the bottom glass did not get detached.

I'd still say send him an email and see how it was repaired.

Sounds kinda like the deck got pressure dented.

I agree - get more info on how it was damaged and repaired and report back here.

Will do, I just emailed him. While at it I guess $150 aint that bad for a South Coast Board. Well if anyone know a board similar to this for about that price tell me. I live in the 951 area so i can drive to SD to LA since im in between. Sucks for me though, I have to drive an hour to Oceanside to be able to surf.

I saw a 6.8 custom floting around on craigs list going for $150 in pretty good shape my own recomendation would be to look for more deals there are always some good ones going no need to rush in to it.

I saw that too, I contacted the selleryesterday, but I checked again today and I think it went bye bye

i check craigs list just about everyday i picked up a great deal for my mate 3 boards for $50 for the lot all they needed was little bit TLC and they were good to go. Th boards were 6.1 6.2 and 5.10 none of which i can ride but no matter i resold them to my mate for $120 thats after i had repaired them.

Also check out moving house yard sales i have seen some amazing boards go for peanuts - just last week i saw a south coast 7.4 with just a few pressure dings and a minute crack on the nose go for $100 arghhhhh wish i had the money on me i would have got it.
