Nags Head

Postby sunaroo » Sat Nov 04, 2006 5:05 pm

Hello all,

My six year old son walked up to a few days back and said, "I want to be a surfer". To me this was one of the best days in my life as a father.
I have been a sidewalk surfer all my life and have had a love for the water and an under leing desire to sruf myself. I have wind surfer and sailed, so when he said this I begain to look into finding some places close to the house to surf. We are inland. So Nags Head was one of the places that come up in the search.

My question, will Nags Head be a good place to put my future surf on his frist board or is there a bertter spot.

Any info will be helpful.

Thanks.

Question... Why don't you surf and satisfy your under lying desire?

Check out this web page for info and yes apparently it is good for beginners.

Where do you live?

For a learners break, anywhere uncrowded on the east coast is fine.

Nags head is good, Hatteras is better, but usually rather crowded and a kinda tight vibe.

So just drive to the closest beach, and if you see a wave go for it! The east coast is usually shifty beach breaks, so one week is different from the next

Make sure ya'll have fun!

we are in Atlanta, GA., but driving to the coast is not a problem. My wife is a water freck just like me. She loves the beach as much as I do. We planning a Christmas on the beach this year just so we can get some time in next to the water. I don't thank surfing will be in without wetsuits. bumed about that to.

Wow, cool man. I'm from the ATL area. My surf pals live up there still. I live in Columbus, GA now. We were trying to head to Tybee this Friday, but the report looks awful.

we were in Tybee in March for about a week, it was cold but the water was looking partty dam good. We may go back there for Christmas, we want to get some more beach time in this year. I wonder if the swells will be up. When we were there in March the breaks at the pire seamed like it could be good.

As I mentioned to ryan, you could probably find a surf club in atlanta. Hopefully they have a huge bus that everyone rides on and have tons of boards to try out.

Or atleast that's my ideal surf club, but I don't think where I am has a big enough interest.

I googled for one when you first mentioned that, I didn't come up with anything. Maybe that's something I work on building somewhere down the line. By the way, I appreciate all of your input on each of the threads I've posted on. Mucho Gracias. :D

Really...no surf club.... :(

I've been searching for a richmond one for years, and it turns out that one doesn't exist. Maybe when I'm a little bit less busy I'll get something together.

Just don't know how to advertise that

You could check out Folly Beach, SC (near Charleston) or surrounding areas. You could also check out the Wrightsville Beach, NC (near Wilmington) or surrounding areas. Or, head down to places around Jacksonville, FL.

There are a lot of places closer to you than Nags Head.

I have been looking at the Jacksonville area and closer to the SC. area as will.

For the surfing club advertisment you could do it here are maybe at www.Surfline.com. I would thank that they would be more then willing to sale or maybe let you have some space. It will up there clint base and help out the surfing arena as will.

I mean not all surfer live on a coast line or near a beach.

Ronald Ragen Pack on Killin Hills road, It not what you would call a real skate park. But check it out anyway.
