Hey Broosta where abouts are you on the East Coast?

That looks quite nice (little chilly).

Also looks like a tough paddle out..and a lot of swallowing water and getting bashed around. Is it a sand bottom?

If you go more to the left its rocks, but to the right for alooong way its a sand bottom, i've been there a few times. You get a bit of a beating, but my fitness has improved for it.

There is a decent rip going out just at the start of the rocks, takes you straight to the back, but can get very strong so have to be careful your not carried out to Holy Island!

There are a couple of other places I go, but have been sworn to secrecy by my fellow locals.

I love Northumberland its so amazing for scenery and the north east coastal route is breath taking. Ahhh the country side lol

Surfing Longsands for the first time this weekend, so watch out peeps

Surfing Longsands for the 1st time, Its good if theres clean 3-5ft waves. Bad if its 2ft which at the mo is looking like it will be.

MSW is always all most always wrong, you need to knock off a few feet anyway as the wave bouys it takes its data from are miles away and especially East Coast there are not that many bouys to collect the data from. Look at the pressure and wind charts to give you more of an idea.

MSw's charts are OPEN SEA SWELLS... Naturally like anywhere you need to know the spot to know how these are going to manfest on the shoreline.

i dont have any problems with msw. i find i can get a pretty accurate estimation from the data on there for a given spot. just learn to use it properly!

I'm from Gorleston, near Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Unfortunately we got nothing to shout about from this last big swell. It was always too windy and when the wind dropped the waves had too .

There are some juicy lows tracking above Scotland towards Norway that will hopefully send down some long period swell down the East Coast for the weekend, and as it is such a long interval swell it shouldn't lose too much height and power as it comes ashore. Fingers crossed!
